Lakeview Feature Teacher: Jan Johnson
Even the week before break you can’t slow down 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Jan Johnson! This week Mrs. Johnson used the learning progressions to create a tailored checklist for a student who is struggling in writing. She was able to pinpoint where the student fell on the Lucy Calkins learning progressions and then cut and paste from multiple grade level checklists to create one that takes her student to their exact next steps in the progression. Mrs. Johnson is constantly meeting her learners where they are and pushing them to their zone of proximal development.
Mrs. Johnson also did two observations in another grade level this week in order to see what things she could apply to her word study instruction. Mrs. Johnson never stops learning, growing, and trying new things! She is an incredible educator and never stops challenging her students or herself.
