Lakeview Feature Teacher: Betsy Brown
Mrs. Betsy Brown is one of our 1st grade teachers at Lakeview. She and the building instructional coach have been working together over the past few weeks to plan explicit phonics experiences for students. After screening Mrs. Brown's students, they made groups to allow students to focus on their specific phonics pattern of need. The instructional coach, Miss Gerk, was then able to spend time in 1D to start setting up Word Study Clubs where students work collaboratively on their specific phonics goal. Recently, Mrs. Brown launched Word Study Clubs by making a connection to book clubs. They will continue to work together to support her students in meeting with their Word Study Club during reading rotations for specific phonics practice opportunities. Mrs. Brown is such a great collaborator!
