The Solon Community School District is in search of a new high school principal after Zach Wigle announced late last week his resignation, effective June 30th. Wigle will be taking the superintendent role with the Fairfield Community School District on July 1st. He has been with the district since 2016 and the high school principal since the 2019-2020 school year.
The district has started the search process for the new principal this past week. The Grundmeyer Leader Search firm will assist the district with the application, recruiting, and referencing process in order to identify a diverse candidate pool. Applications will be received through March 30th with candidate finalists invited to formal onsite interviews on April 15th. The formal interview process will include parent, teacher, and student committees to provide feedback regarding candidates qualifications and fit for the high school.
"Mr. Wigle has had a significant impact on our high school, district, and community over the last several years," commented Dr. Davis Eidahl, Superintendent of Schools. "His commitment to students' success and the overall contribution to a positive culture supporting teaching and learning at the high school is something we want to see continue. The new principal will have big shoes to fill and will need to build strong relationships immediately with students, families, and staff as well as identify areas where we can continue to improve."
The district sent a stakeholder survey to staff and 8th through 11th grade families to gather feedback regarding the qualities they want to see in the new principal.
The new principal will be identified and a recommendation will be made to the school board during the week of April 15th.
